In 2010 they did a redesign that had better clearance tolerances and larger timing chains. They also had a software update to make the oil change reminder come on earlier on the older engine. Also on the Camaro forums I found an upgrade to the PCV system.

It was caused by a bad PCV system on the rear bank that caused the pcv valve to clog and cause oil sludge on the rear chain. 7500 oil changes were revised to 5k.
